Ismail Elalamy

Profesor Ismaïl Elalamy, M.D. PhD., is a Professor of Haematology and Head of the Haematology Department at Tenon University Hospital, Sorbonne University in Paris. Prof Elalamy has been involved in the field of thrombosis and antithrombotic therapies since 1991, and his research interests include improving therapeutic strategies, identifying new biomarkers and the application of novel diagnostic techniques to the clinic. He was a Post-Doc fellow at the Pasteur Institute, Paris, from 1998-2003, Associate Professor of Haematology at the APHP, Paris, from 1998-2008, and has also been Head of a Research Group on Hemostasis and Thrombosis in Cancer since 2005 which is now associated to INSERM UMR S-938. In his current position, Prof Elalamy has established an expert centre for diagnosis and management of Heparin-Induced Thrombocytopenia, and a research centre for thrombotic or bleeding risk stratification (Cancer, Pregnancy or Assisted Reproduction Therapy, Familial Thrombophilia…) with specialized clinical and laboratory activity in platelet studies.

Alexandros Tselepis

Alexandros D. Tselepis has graduated in Pharmacy from the University of Thessaloniki and in Medicine from the University of Ioannina. He obtained his PhD in Clinical Biochemistry in 1986 from the University of Ioannina, Greece. He continued his research studies as a Postdoctoral Fellow (Fogarty, NIH) at the University of Texas Health Science Center, at San Antonio, USA (1988–1989) as well as taking a sabbatical leave at INSERM U323, Paris (1994-1999, three months each year). After initial appointments as Assistant and Associate Professor, he took up his current position of Professor of Biochemistry–Clinical Chemistry in the University of Ioannina, in 2006. Professor Tselepis is also the Director of the Atherothrombosis Research Centre of the University of Ioannina. His main scientific interests are in the pathophysiology of Atherothrombosis. He has more than 263 publications at international journals and more than 8,000 citations, whereas his current h-index is 46 (Scopus).

Dimitrios Alexopoulos

Dr. Dimitrios Alexopoulos is Professor of Cardiology at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens Medical School, Attikon University Hospital and Chief of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory. He is a Graduate of Athens University Medical School. He was trained in Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology in John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, UK and Mount Sinai Hospital, New York, USA. He became a Faculty member of Patras University, Greece (1990) where he served as a full professor in Cardiology since 2000. Between 2004-2016 served as a Chairman of Cardiology in Patras University Hospital. He was therafter elected Professor of Cardiology at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens Medical School (current position). Prof. Alexopoulos is a specialized interventional Cardiologist. He has co-authored >400 publications listed in pubmed, being the first author in 107 and senior author in 127 of them with a total impact factor 1683, >17500 citations and h index 52.

Gili Kennet

Director of the Israel National Hemophilia Center and Thrombosis Institute, Sheba Medical Center and head of Amalia Biron Research Institute of Thrombosis and Hemostasis, Tel Aviv University. She also serves as director of the international PedNet Research Foundation.

Gili Kenet is a Pediatric Hematologist, Professor and former Chair of the Hematology Department at Tel Aviv University. Her research projects have been focused on neonatal hemostasis, research of new therapy modes applied for people with hemophilia and severe bleeding disorders. Prof. Kenet pioneered in gene therapy clinical trials and novel non replacement Hemophilia therapies. She was awarded grants for pediatric hematology research, study of rFVIIa mode of action, epidemiology of inhibitor evolution, personalized tailoring of hemophilia therapy by application of global hemostasis assays and recently - gene therapy murine models.

Professor Kenet is the author of over 320 peer reviewed scientific publications, review articles and book chapters, editorial board member of the Haemophilia journal. She is an active member of the WFH, American Society of Hematology, former Chairperson of the Pediatric and Peri-natal Hemostasis Scientific Subcommittee (SSC) of ISTH & co-chair of FVIII/FIX and rare bleeding disorders, member of educational committees of EHA and EMLTD.

She also published one poetry book.

David Baron

He is Emeritus Professor of Hematology, Hadassah-Hebrew University Medical School. His areas of research include: Studying platelet function and interactions with vascular compartments under flow conditions, including testing the response to anti-platelet drugs and studying the role of platelets and platelet derived microparticles in angiogenesis and tumor biology.
Dr. Varon published over 130 original publications in leading journals as well as many chapters in textbooks in the field of hematology and vascular biology. He also holds several patents of the Cone and Plate(let) Analyzer –the CPA - a method and a system for testing platelet function under flow conditions.

Ali Taher

Ali T. Taher, Professor of Medicine at the Division of Hematology & Oncology Department of Internal Medicine, is the Director of the Naef K. Basile Cancer Institute (NKBCI) at the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC. He has occupied the position of the Vice Chair for Research at the Department of Internal Medicine, AUBMC and was also the Founding Director Fellowship and Residents Research Program (FRRP), Faculty of Medicine. Nationally, Prof. Taher is an integral member of a team of consultants at the Thalassemia Department of the Chronic Care Center (CCC) located in Hazmieh, Lebanon where he has contributed to state of the art programs for prevention and management of thalassemia patients in the country. Internationally, Prof. Taher has also been an adjunct Professor of Hematology & Medical Oncology at Emory School of Medicine, Atlanta, GA, USA since 2013. In May 2018 Prof. Taher was granted Tenure in the current rank as full time professor in the Department of Internal Medicine, Faculty of Medicine at AUBMC. Most recently in November 2020, an international study produced a composite citation-based indicator and listed Prof. Taher among the world's top 2 percent of scholars in his respective field.

I was Head of Urgent Cardiology Department, Emergency Hospital of Clinical Centre of Serbia, chair of postgraduate course of Cardiology Cathedra, Medical Faculty Univesity of Belgrade. My clinical practice and research activities are devoted to acute and chronic coronary disease , heart failure, atrial fibrillation and treatment. Her nost important project is initiation and organization of the first National Hospital Registry for ACS in Serbia. and founder and chair Serbian Society of Coronary Care Units from 2002. Mojca Božič Mijovski

Mojca Božič Mijovski  is currently head of the Laboratory for Hemostasis and Thrombosis at the University Medical Centre Ljubljana. She is also a lecturer in hemostasis at the University of Ljubljana and a Senior Scientist leading the research group for Laboratory Methodology in Hemostasis and Thrombosis within the Atherosclerosis and Thrombosis Research Program at the Slovenian Research and Innovation Agency.

Lina Badimon

Prof. Lina Badimon is the Director of the Cardiovascular Science Program (ICCC) at the Hospital Santa Creu and San Pau, Director of the Cardiovascular Research Chair of the Autonomous University of Barcelona, Professor at the National Research Council of Spain (CSIC), and Director of the UNESCO Chair in Biomedical Sciences Training and Research. She is Visiting Professor of Manchester Metropolitan University. Her research activities focus on cardio-metabolic diseases, thrombosis, atherosclerosis and ischemic heart disease. Teresa Padró

Dr. Teresa Padro is a senior scientist and head of the research group on “Biomarkers for Cardiovascular Disease” in the Cardiovascular Program-ICCC at the Research Institute of the Hospital Santa Creu i Sant Pau (IR-HSCSP) in Barcelona (Spain). Previous positions included research scientist at the Münster-University (Medical School) in Germany and post-doctoral fellow at the Gaubius-Institute-TNO (Netherlands). Dr. Padro research interest focuses on vascular and cardiac disease pathology, coronary microcirculation, atherosclerosis, and thrombosis, with a research career oriented towards translational studies (from bench-to-bedside) aimed to identify new biomarkers or/and molecular targets with potential use in prevention, disease diagnosis, and treatment. Dr Padro expertise in the cardiovascular field is endorsed by more than 140 original articles and reviews (times-cited: 4,879; H-index: 36). Dr. Padro is General Secretary of the EMLTD since 2016 and Chairperson-Elect for the Working Group on Microcirculation and Coronary Pathophysiology (2020-2022) of the European Society of Cardiology.
